Canon Patrick writes…
In the Church of England, a day of thanksgiving for Holy Communion is often observed on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday. The day is often referred to as “Corpus Christi” (Body of Christ) and this year it falls on 4th June. We used to always observe this festival with a special service at St Mary’s, Lapworth, but that stopped in Covid and has never restarted.
You may recall that I was installed as an Honorary Canon of Birmingham Cathedral last November. As a newly installed Canon, I have been invited to preach at the Cathedral on 4thJune for Corpus Christi! So suddenly my interest in Corpus Christi is revitalised and I am busy preparing.
So do come along for a summer evening in Birmingham and hear me preach at St Philip’s Cathedral. I’ll be wearing my Canon’s cassock. The service starts at 7.45pm, and will include a short procession.
